Enrichment week!

This week have been finding out about Pablo Picasso and Benjamin Britten.

We found out interesting facts about Pablo Picasso in shared reading and created our own cubism portraits in the style of Picasso!

Look at our amazing art work!!

This term our line of enquiry is....

Plants, humans and animals - are we all the same?

This term we will become plant and minibeast experts!

We will be learning about mini beasts and their habitats. We will investigate the mini beasts in our local environment and sort and classify them using what we know.

We will also be learning about plants - investigating what plants need to grow and stay healthy.

We will be using non-fiction texts to help us find out information and answer our questions.

At Northfield st Nicholas we teach our English curriculum through high quality texts.

The texts we use link directly to our lines of enquiry and support our learning in other areas of the curriculum.

Each half term we introduce a new text.

The children explore the text page by page over the half term and engage with it in a variety of ways. We use lots of drama to support us and take lots of photos - keep checking back to see what we have been up to!

Our text this half term is:

Moth by Isabel Thomas

This terms homework projects...

Growing plants and vegetables!

You will be given a pack of seeds. Your challenge is to help your seeds grow into a healthy plant or vegetable. Think very carefully about what your seeds will need to help them grow.

How will you look after them?

Parents will be invited in to see us at our end of half term 'Country Fayre' where we will showcase the plants and vegetables that we have grown.

This will also be a chance for you to see what he have been learning.

Please bring your plants in on - Friday 15th February.

Parents are invited into school on Friday 15th December from 2:30pm.

On Wednesday evenings it is time for 'Buster's Book club'

Read at home for your target time (maybe even longer!) and remember to record it on your Buster's bookmark.

The winning class will be rewarded with the Buster's Book club trophy in Mondays celebration assembly. The winning class are the class who have read for the most minutes.
