Magnolia (Yr 4)

Welcome to Magnolia's Class Page!

This term, our topic is Blue Abyss. We have been learning all about the different oceans and the wonderful creatures found in its depths.

Maths: next week the children will be learning about perimeter.

English: next week the children will be writing and filming news reports. We will be writing about the disappearance of an octopus from Great Yarmouth Sea Life Centre!

Reading: this week we will be looking at a range of texts. Firstly, we will be investigating information texts and answering retrieval questions. Then, we will be investigating poems and answering a range of questions based on the reading VIPERS.

How you can help your child at home

Reading with your child every night will help them in every element of their work! Within maths, it is really important the children are confident with their times tables. Again this will support them with all their maths skills!

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Snow Day! Friday 2nd March 2018

We hope you have been enjoying the snow! Today we would like you to complete a writing task to hand in on Monday. This needs to be a diary entry about a snow day you have particularly enjoyed. We will be expecting the same standard as we would expect in the classroom so really think about your writing!

We would also like you to practise your times tables using this link:

Alongside this, Kingswood is still going ahead (Wednesday 7th-Friday 9th March 2018) and we need all medication forms back too please.

Thank you for your co-operation with this, we look forward to reading the diary entries on Monday! smiley

On Monday 19th February 2018, we were lucky enough to have been visited by Eastpoint Diving. Tony and Martin told us all about their experiences whilst diving, how to dive safely, the different hand-signals used and we even got to try the scuba equipment on.

During English lessons, we have been writing dilemma stories about diving in the ocean. Tony and Martin's visit expanded our vocabulary and gave us some wonderful ideas for our writing!

Story Cafe

Staff and children really enjoyed their story cafe. There were some really brillient pieces of art and it was lovely to see children and adults working together!
