Penguins (Yr 3)

Picture 1

Our current class, shared book is 'The Hodgeheg' by Dick King Smith. We are practising our VIPERS reading skills: vocabulary, infer, predict, explain, retrieve, sequence/summarise.

Please continue to support your child's reading at home.

We will be improving our knowledge of grammar and parts of speech as we learn to write different types of sentences. Approximately once every three weeks, we will be putting what we have learned into practise with a 'Big Write'.

Please continue to support your child at home with spelling and handwriting practise.

We will be extending our number skills to 1000 and then 10,000. We will be counting in 4's, 8's, 50's and 100's.

A great way to practise times tables at home is with the BBC Super Movers times tables videos.

Other Subjects

Our topic for this term is 'Tribal Tales'. We will be learning about the period from the Stone Age through to the Iron Age.

In science we are learning about light: sources of light, darkness, how light travels, reflection, shadows and sun safety.

P.E. will take place on Friday each week, with an additional P.E. lesson on either Wednesday (B) or Thursday (A). Children should bring their P.E. kits to school on Monday and keep them in school all week.
