As part of our ongoing commitment to improve reading levels across the school, we have continued with our Reading Challenge for 2015/16, and this is progressing well. Children are persevering, with many classes now achieving good results. The children’s growing enthusiasm for reading in general is pleasing to see with more and more books being borrowed from the Lion Library.
The Reading Challenge encourages children to read at home for at least 3 times a week for 10 minutes - more would be great! We then ask parents to sign their reading log, so their teacher can note this, and add it to the class score. At the end of the challenge, there are prizes for the top 3 classes, and also the most improved.
